I have not put power to it, so I have no idea if anything works, but the drive wheels turn very nicely, turning the gears that turn the armature.

The set includes a 636w locomotive which is supposed to have a whistle, but the whistle unit is missing, 2ea.

This is the set in the early chocolate brown deep yellow paint scheme, which I have always thought was the nicest. At first, I thought that the yellow on the vestibules had been touched up, but after a closer examination, I don't think so.
