What you see is what get. The cars are all in exceptionally nice condition, with nothing broken. Both lights work. The original instruction booklet is included as well the virtually impossible to find M-3816 Advisement slip regarding use of long Alco loco through switch tracks.
I have not tested the light in caboose. The set box is showing some wear tear, but still very nice, please see photos. The original boxes are as shown. The diesel loco has a diecast metal chassis with plastic body.
I am selling this Gilbert HO Train Set as-is, as-found. The pieces of cardboard in the hand railings were there when I got set many years ago. The loco box has some minor tears in the plastic window.
This set is not perfect but it truly exceptional and the best one I was ever able to purchase. So, I purchase brand new, 200# test, shipping cartons and use anti-static, 100% BIODEGRADABLE, environmentally friendly, loose fill packing material MOST OF THE TIME. One couplet is slightly broken, please see photos. I have only ever seen these once before, as they are almost always missing.
I say most of the time, because will, on some occasions, ship in previously used cartons and may reuse other types packing materials, which best suit item being shipped. I would call them all EX to Like New. All of the separate boxes are nice clean with all flaps no tape repairs. I have not inspected the track, so it is what is, but looks exceptionally nice.
It has two cardboard inserts below the floor of box, one at each end. I've been around for a while a LONG while and I have dived into my last dumpster looking shipping cartons. The body shell is virtually perfect, showing absolutely no signs of heat damage. I sometimes use USPS Priority Mail shipping cartons as well.
